Sandpoint- Saturday, June 27th. Schweitzer will celebrate the summer season with free chairlift rides and live music provided by Truck Mills and Cris Lucas beginning at 11am. Schweitzer is also bringing back the Power Tower bungee trampoline and climbing wall to the village along with a variety of arts and crafts, games and a barbecue. Local vendors, including the Flatbread Pizza Co., and the Selkirk Conservation Alliance with displays and information about local wildlife, will be set up in the village. At the top of the quad, refreshments will be offered and geocaching, disc golf and access to hiking and biking trails will be open for summer. |

Sandpoint- It isn%u2019t uncommon to witness a North Idaho meteor shower in late summer or early autumn, but not many people in Sandpoint ever get the chance to witness a winter meteor shower, and even fewer ever see a mountain-top meteor shower. But this year, in the heart of the Schweitzer village, eyes will be skyward at 6PM on Friday, February 27th and Saturday, February 28th as the stars of skiing join together to create celestial splendor, soaring through the sky during Yoke%u2019s Outrageous Air show at Schweitzer. |

Sandpoint- If you gathered at the top of Primetime run at Schweitzer on Thursday, February 5th several minutes before 10AM, you would find a flurry of skiers racing to get there. Some would be trickling in late because they were out getting in as many turns as possible, and some would be having their morning cup of %u201Ccoffee%u201D or %u201Ccocoa%u201D out of a plastic flask. All of them would be laughing, chatting and high spirited and you may think you had just encountered a group from Schweitzer%u2019s College Daze. |

Sandpoint, ID %u2013 Schweitzer Mountain Resort announces several initiatives intended to reduce their impact on the environment. Schweitzer hired an environmental coordinator, signed the National Ski Area Association%u2019s Sustainable Slopes Initiative, purchased wind energy to operate several chairlifts, enlisted an environmental committee to work on improvements resort wide, and implemented a contest to see how much energy the resort could save last summer. While recognizing that any ski resort is going to have an impact on the environment, Schweitzer is committed to minimizing theirs to the extent possible. |

YAHOOO! The ROUTE OF THE HIAWATHA mountain bike or hike trail will open for the 2008 season this Saturday, June 7. Described as "one of the most scenic stretches of railroad in the country", this 15 mile rail-to-trail adventure includes 10 tunnels and 7 sky high trestles. The 1.66 mile long St. Paul Pass tunnel is one of the highlights of the trail. Snowcapped mountains and numerous waterfalls add extra delight, this time of year, and there are 47 historical and interpretive signs along the way that explain the colorful railroad history of this section of the old Milwaukee line. |

Adult Sunday through Friday passes are $399 and adult unlimited passes cost $599 if purchased before June, when they will increase to our standard early purchase rates. |

Snow in September? Yes, on September 20th it snowed at Lookout Pass & 49° North! We hope this means winter is just around the corner. We've already received some good news form the National Weather Service. According to the National Weather Service, the Northwest Region is in for a wetter than normal winter as the result of La Niña conditions. |

It is currently snowing at the summit of Chewelah Peak. This is the first sign of winter seen at 49° North Mountain Resort this fall and we are elated. We hope this means winter is just around the corner. |

Sandpoint, ID - Schweitzer Mountain Resort's Fall Fest on Labor Day weekend marked the end of summer chairlift operations and pushed the resort beyond previous summer visitation records. On Sunday, September 2nd, during Fall Fest, more people enjoyed riding the Great Escape Quad than ever before on a single summer day, excluding free days. Overall, chairlift rides purchased this summer were 14% above the previous record last summer. |
